Rev. Ascott McCormack appointed New Chaplain for Word Time Ministries


Kingston, Jamaica, August 4, 2010

Rev. Ascott Keith McCormack has been appointed at the new Chaplain of Word Time Ministries of Jamaica. In announcing the appointment Chairman of the Board of Directors of Word Time Ministries of Jamaica, Michael Schurton J.P. said that he was extremely pleased appoint Rev. McCormack as the second Chaplain of the Ministry. Chairman Schurton also noted that Rev. McCormack’s commission as Chaplain places on his shoulders the role of chief intercessor for the Ministry and the Annual Sports Championships.

Rev. Ascott Keith McCormack brings to this new position a wealth of experience having worked with the Elleston Road Police Station and then being appointed as Chaplain for the Vineyard Town Police Station since 2008. He has received specialized training in Chaplaincy Service from the International Conference of Police Chaplains (ICPC). Rev. McCormack is an ordained Minister from the Pentecostal Gospel Temple, 111 Windward Road, Kingston 2, where he counsels and advises the membership as the needs arise. He is a Counsellor, Speaker, Preacher and Teacher.

Rev. McCormack is a Jamaican and is involved in the architectural and construction field and currently has his own company. He is a graduate of the Kingston Technical High School, University of Technology, British Institute of Engineering and the United Theological College of the West Indies. He is a dedicated, faithful, trustworthy and a God fearing man, who cares deeply about the things of God. At an early age he surrendered his life by accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour and has been walking with and working for the Lord for over forty years.

McCormack has given outstanding services to organizations which include, the Pentecostal Gospel Temple which he serves as a member of the Board of Management, Member of the Kiwanis Club of Port Maria, St. Mary, Distinguished Past President 1998-1999, Director of Religious studies, Kiwanis and Executive Board member, Kiwanis. Rev. McCormack has always been happy to work with other individuals, children and youths, through organizations or on his own in all disciplines of the construction industry, the work of the Lord as well as in other opportunities which present themselves.

Rev. McCormack has the distinction of being the second Chaplain appointed by the Board of Directors. He succeeds Rev. Paul David Gallimore J.P. Rev. Gallimore has served with distinction as Chaplain from October 2001 ever since the inception of the Annual Sports Championships until February 2009.

Rev. McCormack’s favourite scripture text is from Isaiah 26;3, “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee.” and we know that he will continue to trust in the Lord while fulfilling his role as the new Chaplain of the Ministry. We will cover Rev McCormack with our prayers as he functions in this area of Word Time Ministries of Jamaica.
