Canadian Track and Field Championships on in High Gear


TORONTO, CANADA - On the third day of competition at the Canadian Track and Field Championships in Toronto a number of athletes are putting it all on the line as they look to capture 2010 titles. In the first sprint final of the meet Adrienne Power of Halifax, NS (Halifast Athletics) claimed her fourth Canadian title (3rd consecutive) in the 200m crossing the line in 23.47. In the men’s 200m race New Haven, PEI’s Jared Connaughton claimed the title in 20.66, re-claiming his title from 2008.

Winning two Canadian crowns today was Sherbrooke’s Eric Gauthier capturing both the 400m in 57.14 and 800m in 2:01.18 (T53 classification). Also recording back to back gold medals was Renee Foessel of the Cruisers club. Foessel won the shot put and javelin in the F37 classification with performances of 8.90m and 20.66m respectively.
